“The alternative” Top 10 (Now more than 10!)
Great places to visit while in Lanzarote

-
We call it “The Tin Shack” it is the Chiringuito Beach Bar*– a place to have tapas and a glass of wine on the seafront in Arrieta - see a photo on Pinterest Click here
-
Walk along Famara beach, we suggest early morning (take the flask for a cup of tea or coffee), also a great place to fly a kite!
-
Go local - Have a meal in the Sociedad in Oasis de Nazaret on the main road - You can have a look at the menu Click here
-
Tapas again, this time in Playa Honda, just take the road down the side of Delialand to the end and then walk 50mtrs to the right, again another great seafront location
-
Also try 50 mtrs the other way, a nice small restaurant, serving great food with a great view!
-
Hire a bike in Matagorda and cycle along the seafront to Arrecife
-
Go the Grand Hotel in Arrecife (the highest building on the Island) and have coffee & cake on the top floor – a view you will not forget (Car park in the basement)
-
Visit the Volcano museum & experience a volcanic eruption!
-
Go to Marina Rubicon on a Wednesday or Saturday – stylish market and good value restaurants
-
If you are going to do only one walk, do this one, into a volcanic crater! - It starts on road LZ56 just north of the Tias/Tinajo boundary markers (GPS N28.59.66, W13.41.10). Park on the south side of the road and follow the clearly defined path until reaching the volcano, then turn right for a hundred yards, where upon turning left you will be rewarded by access to the floor of the inner crater itself, an amazing sight and experience (total distance just 4km/2.5m)
11. Click here to find a free guide to Teguise – the Old capital of Lanzarote, look out for the statues , we have found 6 located around the village / town , then walk to Jonnie Bakes* a great place to enjoy freshly made cakes and savouries and with a
