Reduce Quarantine from 14 days to 5 days

AS FROM 4AM SATURDAY DEC 12 TRAVELLERS ARRIVING IN THE UK WILL NEED TO QUARATINE FOR 14 DAYS

Starting on 15 December, travellers living in England will be able to take a Covid-19 test after five clear days of leaving a quarantine country. If it proves negative you can end self-isolation.

This also applies to anyone arriving before 15 December. If they take a test on that day, they will be able to stop quarantining from the moment of a negative result.

On the UK passenger locator form that everyone arriving into the UK must complete, you need to opt for “test to release,”

You should book a private test ( sadly you will need to pay for this) from a company appearing on an official government list, ideally before travelling to the UK – Note - people who return and then decide they want to take a test can update the passenger locator form

How it works…………..

After completing five full days after leaving a quarantine country, you can either go to a pre-booked private testing centre, or take a pre-booked test at home and despatch it. (You can order a kit so it is at home for when you arrive back)

If the result is negative, you are free to end self-isolation, I expect this to be Day 7?

Note: The Department for Transport (DfT), which is running the scheme, has yet to publish the list of approved test providers. It will be made available shortly before 15 December .
