Current situation in Lanzarote

The Island is still on level 4 lockdown, there is an expectation it will remain at this level until the Carnival period which is around Shrove Tuesday (Feb 16) has passed - the carnivals themselves are cancelled but the authorities will probably want to avoid any informal gatherings

Previous week in brackets

-Current active cases - 774 (929)

-In hospital - 54 (54)

-In ICU - 19 (21)

-In home isolation - 623 (875)

Note : Lanzarote - 214 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 7 days

UK by comparison is 190

Both still require improvement

Vaccination in Lanzarote

There is still a supply issue on the Island which is being reported in the media, that at the current rate it will take 6 years to vaccinate 70% of the population, to date 1.8% of the population have had their first jab - This will change dramatically as increased supply comes on stream in the Spring

The split of vaccines are

Pfizer - 86%

Moderna - 6%

Astra Zeneca - 8%

Many people in England are waiting for February 22 when Boris Johnson is due to publish the roadmap out of lockdown

Lets hope on

The Covid-19 numbers continue to go down

The vaccination numbers continue to increase dramatically

The roadmap is clear and allows people to plan

Keep safe
