Lanzarote is waiting for you!

All the airlines are now flying to Lanzarote as the UK Government is now allowing overseas travel even if you live in a Tier 3 (or similar) location

So the focus is now on testing prior to departure

As of today, the only test being accepted from a "Red/High risk" country (Like the UK) is COVID-19 RT-qPCR Test

Spain's secretary of state Fernando Valdés said he was hopeful for a pilot scheme to start this month, using the quick antigen Covid test.............

He hopes the scheme to start from December 15 until February 2021 in the Canaries.

He said "talks were already underway with the UK and Germany for airports on both sides to offer the rapid testing. Mr Valdés explained: "They [PCRs] are the certified tests, but we have to move forward to be more agile and put in place measures that are more flexible, more cheap and more accessible to the population. It has to change.”

The open question is- does this need EU approval to allow Spain (Lanzarote) to start the trial?

Last week we mentioned the two most credible companies we have found who operate 24/7 -7 days a week are:

Randox - www.randoxhealth.com - They are the approved test house for Tui and Jet2, the cost is £120 per person but there is a discount if you are flying with either of these airlines

Assured Sreening - They are a little cheaper at £109 per person

This week Wizz Air announced they have an agreement for discounted testing with "Confirm Testing" at £85 including a travel certificate - "confirmtesting.com"

Beware that some other companies are charging extra to get a Travel certificate

We have also noticed some airports are offering testing, however for the COVID-19 RT-qPCR Test you have to travel to the airport have a swab test , go home and wait for the test results 24/48 hours later....... not sure what value this adds to the testing process

Footnote - Things continue to move fast, we now have an approved vaccine with more on the horizon ............ looks light there is light at the end of the covid tunnel
