Lanzarote "Getting back on track"

Villa Antonio Lanzarote

It feels like we are in a "limbo" stage, so below are the facts and personal thoughts on what is happening..............

Next key date -21st June.

Most restrictions in place in Lanzarote will be lifted and life will go back to "normal" on the Island with two key changes - Everyone will still have to maintain 1.5 metres social distancing from each other, and where this cannot be achieved, everyone will be required to wear a mask.

There is a proposal for “test flights” from Germany in the next couple of weeks. The Tourist Office is scrabbling around to try to make these happen, but they’re struggling to get everything in place ( Airport temperature checks etc )

For UK and Ireland, the stumbling block is that both countries are currently advising their citizens not to travel abroad, and they also have 14 day quarantine period in place for people returning home. The Spanish government has said they will not open up the borders to either country while they still have travel restrictions on their own citizens.

Ryanair is taking bookings from July 1 -I feel to get cash off the customers, and if needed cancel/ change flights at a later date

Jet 2 is taking bookings from July 15 - I feel this is a more sensible date

I read an article recently............

Most people are confident of being able to travel by September. I think the sector that will get up and running the fastest/safest sector is the private lettings of villas and apartments

Further update next week , so please "Keep safe / Keep well"
