Every Friday a colourful street market is held around the Plaza Varadero, which is near to the old harbour in Puerto del Carmen. There's typically around 60 - 70 stall each week, offering a selection of locally produced fruit, vegetables and crafts, along with a selection of other Canarian products including flowers and clothes etc.
The harbour in Puerto Del Carmen is the most traditional area of the resort, and is home to several restaurants and music bars. The restaurants in the area are some of the best in the town, most of them serving fresh fish of the day. There is a vegetarian cafe here called the Blooming Cactus, along with a Caribbean tapas bar!
