Have you been to El Golfo?
Recently some guests have kindly wrote four Blog posts, which will appearing in the coming weeks...................
If you're travelling to the south of the island, make sure you take in El Golfo, particularly if you're looking for somewhere special for lunch.
You won't see any fairways or bunkers here just a delightful coastal village which looks like a film set out of the film Mama Mia.
It's a small place with restaurants spread along the rugged black lava coastline. You can eat right next to the water – when we went our table was only a few feet from the waves crashing over the rocks!
The restaurants focus mainly on fish although other things are available. You can order something unusual but really there's no need to look beyond the grilled ‘catch of the day’ washed down with some alcohol. With the spectacular setting you feel just like a film star.
If you're feeling energetic El Golfo is at one end of the 9km coastal walk round the lava fields of the Timanfaya National Park. Just walk a few hundred yards and you get a feel for the scale of the place
El Golfo was definitely a great memory of our time in Lanzarote.
